About TSPKey
Helping federal employees grow their Thrift Savings Plan since 2006.
Meet John Pope, Founder & Lead Strategist
My name is John Pope. I started TSPKey.com in 2006 to help Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) participants achieve higher returns with less risk.
I’m a former U.S. Air Force officer who started working on stock market timing systems in graduate school. After watching stocks soar in the late 1990s — then crash after the dot-com bubble — I realized buy-and-hold wasn’t the best approach.
I’ve also worked as an analyst and writer for a major foreign exchange website. My academic background is in Industrial Engineering (BS) and Business (MBA). As a TSPKey subscriber, you’ll have full access to our strategy recommendations — I use the same recommendations for my own TSP account.
Our Mission
TSPKey was founded on the belief that federal employees deserve the same caliber of investment guidance available to private-sector investors. The TSP is one of the lowest-cost, best-designed retirement plans in the country — but most participants are left to figure out fund allocation on their own.
We change that. Each weekend, we publish a market analysis and an allocation recommendation. When the market shifts, you get an email alert. The whole process — checking your update, making the change at tsp.gov — takes a few minutes a month.
We don’t make personalized investment recommendations or manage your account. We provide research and education. Final decisions are always yours.
